The prevention of maltreatment and cruelty to beagles and encourage responsible ownership throughout Great Britain.
Re-home beagles whose owners are unable to do so.
Provide advice and guidance to beagle owners.
Promote responsible breeding practices in the breeding of beagles throughout Great Britain.
celandine wood animal rescue
Our mission is to provide a life line to animals in need
We will never put an animal to sleep, unless it is in the animal’s best interest and we have exhausted all options.
We endeavour to help animals find their forever home, however when this is not possible, we provide them with sanctuary for life. We provide treatment to wildlife with an ultimate goal of returning them to their natural habitat.
Celandine Wood Animal Rescue was founded by a Veterinary Surgeon who was horrified by the number of animals presented to veterinary practises for unnecessary euthanasia due to treatable behavioural or medical conditions. The team has grown to include additional veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, human nurses and other professionals and non professionals alike!
This provides us with a wide array of skillsets and experience which enables us to provide exceptional care for animals and we leave no stone unturned in our pursuit to save lives.
All of our team members are volunteers. Who work tirelessly to help animals alongside their day jobs and family commitments. We can receive hundreds of messages per day and this can mean that at times we are slower to respond, as we prioritise the needs of the animals in our care.

jackson’s animal rescue
Back in October 2015, this charity was simply an idea in my head. A few months previously, I had rescued my amazing dog, Jackson from the RSPCA. It really made me think, there simply weren't enough rescue spaces in the North West. What started with a post online about an idea, that I honestly thought would never take off, has now become a large organisation.
The dream was to have a premises where we are able to help more wildlife, and rescue domestic animals such as dogs and cats. For our first few years of operation, this was sadly neglected as we were so busy with The Wildlife Centre there wasn't a spare minute, or a spare penny, for The Dream.
In September 2020 we finally achieved it, and we now have a premises where will be able to help dogs, cats, and many other animals. This property is now called Jackson's Place requires a huge amount of work. None of this could have ever been achieved without people believing in my dream and supporting this much needed charity.
joey’s legacy rescue and rehoming
Founded in 2009, Joey's Legacy Rescue and Rehoming area dedicated to helping all dogs in need. When the rescue first began, we were a breed specific rescue for boxers, over time our expertise expanded to include other brachycephalic breeds. Given the unique medical challenges these breeds often face, we have developed a specialisation in rescuing and rehabilitating dogs with medical conditions, as well as nurturing handrear puppies and assisting various rescue groups, pounds and veterinary practices in need of support. In 2021, our team deliberated on further advancing our rescue efforts by transitioning into an all-breed rescue. We have since welcomed dogs of all breeds, while maintaining our focus on brachycephalic breeds, medical cases, and hand-rearing. We remain committed to accepting any dog in need, regardless of its breed. Although our main team is located in Liverpool and Warrington, we are fortunate to have volunteers in various regions. Operating without a physical rescue centre, we rely on a network of foster homes in the North West of England.
liverpool dog & animal rescue 1990
LDR Founder and trustee, Lisa Rhodes has been rescuing and rehoming dogs for over 30 years... "many of the dogs we take in cost can cost us hundreds/thousands of pounds as they need rehabilitation both emotionally and physically and some of them need numerous operations/vet care etc... as they come to us in a horrendous state..."
Lisa set up Liverpool Dog And Animal Rescue in 2007 and it became a registered charity in 2009 and has a non destruct policy. One of the dogs rescued by Lisa was Rocky who was rescued from a sad situation in 2002. However, she quickly realised he could not be re-homed as he was very unpredictable and did not like new people.
Rocky therefore became the kennel dog and used to live in the office and had a great life there and he was spoilt by the volunteers. In his later years Lisa took him home and during the autumn of his life he enjoyed many years with her other dogs and rescue ponies. Rocky was put to sleep at the age of 20 last year (2019) with Lisa by his side.
Liverpool Dog And Animal Rescue take in those dogs that would usually be put to sleep but with lots of TLC from volunteers, sessions with a brilliant dog behaviourist and the best veterinary care these dogs go on to get wonderful, forever homes with the majority of the adopters keeping in touch and sending pics of their adopted pooches.
liverpool hunt saboteurs
Hunting with hounds was banned in England & Wales in 2005, however most hunts continue much as they did before. The police rarely help enforce the Hunting Act, due to a combination of ignorance on hunting techniques and interpretation of the law, and bias towards those who hunt and against those who try to stop it. In theory hunting with hounds is a thing of the past but in practice countless animals are pursued and ripped to pieces by hunts in the UK every week. Liverpool Hunt Saboteurs have experience of using non-violent direct action tactics to save the lives of thousands of hunted animals every season. From the use of hunting horns and voice calls to call off hounds from the scent at foxhunts, to standing in front of shooting butts on grouse moors, to wading through rivers at mink hunts, wherever animals are being hunted for fun, hunt saboteurs will be there, protecting our wildlife from the "sportsmen" who get their kicks from killing.

penny’s ark
Penny’s Ark aims to provide another solution in regard to housing cats and dogs until their forever homes are found. Some however will never be that fortunate - we need our U.K. Sanctuary for this purpose and each penny gets us a step further. I’m sure we are all aware that when a war breaks out it is the people and animals who are killed, maimed, and displaced. It is vital that we do something.
Penny’s Ark is embarking on a smaller UK project where we need a warehouse or storage facility so we can gather much-needed children’s clothes, toys, dog and cat food and ship these off to where they are needed most. We already send clothes over to Romania to help those in poverty, but we think we can do more in Europe and the U.K. on a bigger scale.
If you can provide resources for this please let us know. One click of the donate button can get us closer.
Helping each one until there are none.

tails animal welfare
Tails Animal Welfare is Liverpool’s newest non-profit animal rescue. We are a foster based rescue, supporting the needs of the communities in the Liverpool City Region. Our mission is to rescue, support and educate. The rescue was established early 2023 due to the increasing demand for rescue spaces and reduced support from large organisations for community neutering and TNR programmes.
All our costs are currently covered via fundraising and donations, along with the adoption fee which contributes to neutering, chip, flea worm treatments and vaccination costs.
Our ambition is to eventually have premises where we can help more animals in need, a forever home for those that may not be suitable for adoption and an educational community space.
